This butterfly that is eating a mashed up banana only has one wing. I think she is so beautiful and stronger than any other. I wonder if God feels the same way about us. We are not perfect and many of us have been broken, but God sees past our imperfections and sees the beauty inside.

For my daughter’s birthday, I ordered a butterfly kit. She got this little clear jar with 5 little black dots and food which looked like brown glue at the bottom of the jar. Each day these black dots got bigger and bigger. Soon they started to look like little, furry caterpillars, busy trying to eat everything in their way. Then one day they all climbed to the top of the white lid and wrapped up in what looked like silky string and just hung there. Just 8 days later these ugly furry caterpillars turned into beautiful, black, orange and white butterflies.

The butterfly in this video, wing did not dry correctly when she broke out of her cocoon. She was unable to move. She just laid there at the bottom of the butterfly enclosure. We thought she would die her 1st day out of her cocoon, but she did not. All the other butterflies were able to move around and fly, but she could not. After a couple of days, her broken wing finally broke off and she was able to move around a little bit easier. In this video, she is eating a mashed banana I pushed through a laundry basket / butterfly home!

I admire this butterfly. When we, people gave up on her, she did not give up. I imagine she was in pain and could have given up, but she did not, she keeps moving.

I think so many of us can relate to this butterfly. Life throws us many challenges but we keep moving, growing, and learning.

13 No temptation[a] has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted,[c] he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
